StarCraft: Brood War is the development pack for the tactical scifi continuous methodology computer game StarCraft. Delivered in December 1998 for Microsoft Windows and June 1999 for the Macintosh operating system, it was cocreated by Saffire and Snowstorm Diversion. The development pack presents new missions, map tilesets, music, additional units for each race, and redesign progressions. The missions proceed with the story from where the first StarCraft ended,[4] with the spinoff, StarCraft II: Wings of Freedom, going on from the finish of Brood War. The extension was delivered first in the US on December 18, 1998.[1]

Brood War was fundamentally generally welcomed, with commentators commending it for being created with the consideration of a full game as opposed to as a deadened extra.[5][6][7] As of May 31, 2007, StarCraft and Brood War have sold very nearly ten million duplicates combined.[8] The game is particularly famous in South Korea, where proficient players and groups have taken part in matches, procured sponsorships, and contended in broadcast matches.

As of April 19, 2017, StarCraft and its Brood War development, or the Compilation, are allowed to download and play from Snowstorm's website.[9] A remastered version of StarCraft and its extension was delivered on August 14, 2017.[10]
