Most people know the Montgomery Bus Boycott, but very few ever learn about Browder v. Gayle, the historic court case that put an end to segregated public transportation in the South.

Months before Rosa Parks’ arrest in December 1955, four women—Aurelia Browder, Susie McDonald, Claudette Colvin and Mary Louise Smith—were also mistreated on Montgomery city buses. These women would serve as plaintiffs in the legal action challenging Montgomery's segregated public transportation system. Their stories remain largely untold.

In this video, Aurelia Browder’s son, Butler, reflects on her legacy and on the importance of this landmark case.
