In this video the design and build process of a small air compressor unit is shown. It can reach about 10 bar or 150 psi. 3DPrinted parts are used were possible to make manufactioring easy.

Many air compressors rely on momentum to push through the hardest point of the compression cycle and therefore can not operate at low rpm and lack the torque to start when pressurized. The presented design uses a 4:1 reduction and a BLDC Motor to overcome this limitation.
