I have spoken at length about the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 a wonderfully comfortable bike with a smooth engine but, sadly, flawed in a number of ways.....

The somewhat feeble engine coupled with the "big brother" speed limiter a device that the rest of the world get by default although it is only a requirement for Indian riders.

Then there is the useless tripper ok simply a gimmick and the appalling front light you'd be better illuminating the ride ahead by the blinding candle power emanating from the speedometer and tripper!

Other less tetchy types may be able to tolerate these annoyances but, having lived with them for about 2500 miles I decided to go for something more suitable for carrying my not inconsiderable fatness across the back roads of England.....something that will accelerate from 50mph to 60mph in less than six seconds which I contend has safety issues.

The Meteor is a hybrid......it presents itself as a bike for the back roads....which it is, but looks like it ought to be able to cope with stretches on quicker roads; which it cannot in safety in my opinion.

Anyway.....it is a very pretty, comfortable bike with a smooth engine that pulls rather lethargically.

To be honest I am really disappointed I feel this way and am truly sorry to see it go but like some wives, one became more and more "incompatible" the more familiar I became.
