This is Bziza Village, a north Lebanon village located in the Koura district, 85KM north of Beirut the capital city of Lebanon. It is elevated around 430Meters above sea level.

The name Bziza said of Phoenician origin and it means the stolen house town/village. As per archaeologists and History tellers, Bziza stands over a former village that was destroyed by earthquakes.

The Roman temple at Bziza is well preserved. The western façade is embellished by an elegant portico of three limestone columns, the remainder of an original four, supporting architecture of the ionic order.
A church with two apses was built on the eastern side during Byzantine times, but this was later removed in order to reveal the by no means inconsiderable purity of the temple.

الأمامية قائمة. في العصور البيزنطية بُنيت داخل جدرانه كنيسة عُرفت باسم كنيسة سيدة الأعمدة

كلمة بزيزا لها معاني كثيرة، أتى على ذكرها الكثير من المؤرخين والرحالة. البعض يقول أن بزيزا هي اسم مفعول من الأصل بز ومعناه نهب وسلب أي القرية المسلوبة، أما العالم الفرنسي آرنث رونيه الذي مر ببزيزا في القرن التاسع عشر فقد أعطى الكلمة تفسيراً وهو بيت الإله عزيز. وفي الكتاب الأخضر بزيزا هي مصغر بيت عزيز وتعني معبد أو بيت عزيز، وكان عزيز إلهاً سامياً يعبده سكان ايديس مع مونتيموس

تفسيرات كثيرة أعطيت لكلمة بزيزا وآخرها إن اسمها بز الذهب لأن الأقدمين وجدوا فيها جراراً من الذهب، كما عثر الفلاحون على خواتم وقطع ذهبية في كنيسة مار إلياس الحي للروم الأرثوذكس. وفي المعبد الروماني في بزيزا وجدوا جراراً من الذهب في أحد زوايا الدير لأن من عادة الفينيقيين الوثنيين تعبئة الذهب في الجرار.
