If you're a regular viewer, you have probably seen BaselMuttenz marshalling yard quite a few times now, so let's do something new! Our little but powerful freight train starts out in Zurich marshalling yard (to be correct: Limmattal marshalling yard, abbreviated as RBL) and is headed to Lausanne Triage, another marshalling yard in the french part of Switzerland. The RBL is the biggest marshalling yard in Switzerland. There were or still are plans to shrink or even completely shut it down, but that would be quite contradictory to the nationwide goal of transporting more freight on the tracks and less on the streets. But that is a political discussion, so let's go back to trains... It's our job to bring the train to Oberbuchsiten, a small village near Olten, where it will sit for a about two hours. During that time, more wagons will be added to the freight train, before a colleague takes over and drives it further to Lausanne. The start of the video offers some views from inside the RBL, while at the end of the video, never before shown places behind Olten can be discovered.
