Experience a low level winch cable break in 360º and 4k. Part of the annual check flights to permit flying out of DASSU Unterwössen. The glider is an ASK13.
My standard breifing for a winch launch is:
+ If it is possible to land straight ahead, land straight ahead
+ if not, fly a 180º turn and land in the opposite direction
+ If height permits a normal circuit, fly a normal circuit.
+ Consider a minimum speed for all manourvers considering weather conditions.
In this case the situation allowed a landing straight ahead, convieneitly on the winch track.
