Story:

Caeda was bored. After her armies won their most recent battle, Marth had decided that his troops should rest for a few days while he looked to secure relations with nearby nations. So she had another day where she had very little to do.

Looking to her left, she saw a curious glass jar of potion resting on the table next to her. Apparently Marth had left it for her, but she had no idea what was inside it. “A small present for us to enjoy when I get home” the message read. Curious. Caeda always loved it when Marth bought her presents, be it whips, javelins, or lances. Could the potion be a stat booster item to make them stronger in battle? A healing item in case they got injured? Drugs?

Whatever it was, the anticipation was killing Caeda. Before long, her willpower faded, and the jar was in her hand. Just testing a bit of it couldn’t hurt. Marth probably expected her to try it anyways, seeing as how he was kind enough to leave the cork off. Or perhaps it was left there by her enemies. In that case she couldn’t let Marth come in contact with it.

Caeda decided she should probably try a bit. She dipped her finger into the jar of syrupy liquid, getting a bit on her finger, then brought her finger to her mouth. It was a sweet taste, nothing like the bitter taste of items (except elixirs, those tasted quite good), so she figured it probably wasn’t that. She felt a slight pressure on her body, as if she was growing smaller, but she didn’t notice any changes.

Figuring it was maybe just a drink that happened to be in a potion bottle, Caeda decided it tasted so good that she wanted to have another sip. Drinking much more than she previously did, Caeda took a long draught. This time she noticed much more significant changes. Almost immediately, she felt the pressure on her body return, and when she opened her eyes after her drink, she was surprised to find that she had shrunken. She was probably only half the size she was before!

At first she was shocked. But then she had to admit that being this small was rather intriguing. Maybe this was what Marth meant by them enjoying it when he got home. As such, she decided that if he gave her the whole bottle, he probably expected her to drink all of it, and shrink down even more.

As such, she lifted the bottle back up to her mouth, downing the rest of it. This time the effects were far more pronounced. Caeda felt herself shrinking terribly quickly, and before long she was left a fraction of her normal height. She stood up, admiring her new surroundings, and quickly took a step back after realizing how far down the ground was. Maybe drinking the shrinking potion on the table wasn’t the best idea, as she didn’t have a way to get down until Marth got home. Luckily, she wouldn’t have to wait long.

Almost immediately, she heard the door open, and Marth walked through. “Caeda! Good news, we’ve decided the location of our next battle, and can move out soon!” He shouted, clearly expecting to get a response. Instead, he was met with a voice too quiet to hear. It looked as though Marth were a hundred feet tall to Caeda, but she had to get his attention.

“Caeda?” Marth asked, as he looked down at the tiny woman waving at him on the table. “What happened to you?” He walked over to her and crouched down to see her better. Somehow she had been shrunken down to a tiny size.

“Marth!” She yelled excitedly. “I’m so glad you found me.” She ran into his extended hand, and was raised up to his face.

“Look! I found the potion you left me!” She exclaimed, as she tilted the jar towards her mouth to demonstrate. There was a drop of the potion still left, which fell down into her mouth, shrinking her to an even smaller size than before!

“Caeda, I didn’t leave that for you.” Marth said, confused at what was happening. “That must have been a trap left by our enemies.”

Looking down at the tiny woman in his hands, Marth let out a sigh. “Well, I suppose we’d better get you to our healers and see what they can do about this.”
