The T34 Sponsor Group’s T34A was built and delivered to the Air Force in late 1954. During its’ time in the USAF, it trained hundreds of pilot cadets, turning civilians into military pilots, and preparing them for their next assignments as either fighter or transport/bomber pilots.This aircraft is hangared at the Henry B. Tippie National Aviation Education Center (NAEC). This makes it accessible to all of the visitors to the NAEC. The T34 Mentor’s appearance and size makes it a friendlier airplane to approach, especially by younger children. The T34 Sponsor Group is raising funds to install four Garmin GI275 Digital gyros, two in the front cockpit and two in the rear cockpit. These will replace the current attitude indicators and directional gyros.
