The Yaht Experience

My initial impressions of visiting Caldas da Rainha. I discuss the pros and cons of Caldas. I visited Caldas as it was on my list of cities to relocate to from the U.S. So my wife send me on a scouting trip to see Caldas would be suitable for my family and our wanted lifestyle.

Background of why I'm in Portugal: My family and I have been researching a move to Portugal for over a year. However, there is only so much value that research can do. We needed first hand experience. Therefore, my family sent me on a mission to explore Portugal and determine whether it's a place we could permanently relocate from the U.S. and call it home. Hopefully, these series of videos are helpful to people who are considering a move to Portugal.

About Caldas: Caldas da Rainha is situated approximately an hour north of Lisbon and was founded in the 15th century by Queen Leonor (Rainha Dona Leonor). The city's name, Caldas da Rainha can be translated as "Queen's Hot Springs", "Queen's Spa", or "Queen's Baths". Queen Leonor established a hospital and a church at the site of some therapeutic hot springs. The Hospital Termal Rainha D. Leonor (Queen Leonor Spring Water Hospital, or Thermal Hospital) is the oldest purposebuilt institution of its kind in the world, with five centuries of history.
