Since the 6th of June is just behind us I wanted to archive another WW2 game in the form of the console exclusive Call of Duty 3. This is one of the CoD games that many people forget actually existed since its release was limited to consoles instead of PC.
It was Treyarch's first game in the series and though it was so nostalgic for me to play this again in so many years, it is kind of a hit and miss game when it comes to its campaign. The opening level is amazing and just what you want from a Call of Duty game with large epic battles involving hundreds of soldiers. But later levels are a bit less interesting with battles taking place at farm houses and French forests. Its not that its bad, but its all been done before. I believe back when I played this for the first time I started to suffer from the repetitive nature of Call of Duty. What is interesting about this game is that you get to play as factions that usually don't get that much attention in WW2 videogames.
You get to play as the Polish, the Canadians and also help the French Resistance. There are some fun vehicle sections involving tanks and jeeps, but in the end the most fun I had was with the American campaign since that stuck closest to that formula of epic battles which I love so much.
The multiplayer of this game was great with vehicles that you could commandeer and overall I am glad that I took this trip down memory lane to archive this game once and for all.
