Today we will be camping with the magnificent view of Mount Kinabalu,
the tallest mountain in Malaysia and Borneo

The locals know it as Aki Nabalu
How this name came to be, well there are several versions to tell the tale

My favourite version would be the one that was told to me

A more romanticised account of how Aki Nabalu came to be is
the story of a Chinese prince who ascended the mountain,
killed a dragon and seized the pearl.
He later married a local Kadazan woman,
only to abandon her to return to China.
Stricken with such unbearable grief the wife wandered to the mountain to mourn her loss
and was turned to stone by the spirit of the mountain.

Our campsite Dingin Batu is located at Kota Belut, 1.5 hours away from the city center, KK.
This campsite is situated right in front of Mount Kinabalu
and is surrounded by beautiful mountainscapes.
We got to enjoy the closest views of the highest mountain in Borneo.
The campsite has several levels adjacent to UNESCO World Heritage Kinabalu Park
Bayu Kinabalu and Damai View campsite are also located in the same area,
sharing the same view.
