In this overnight hike we are camping on top of Sam's Knob! Not as Popular as Black Balsam Knob but it still packs a lot of views and a beautiful trail.

Camping in the summer has its challenges just like any other season but the summer is usually filled with rain showers, bugs, and risk for extreme dehydration if not properly prepared. The benefits of camping in the summer is usually you can get by with a light sweater in the higher up elevations!

Where to hike in North Carolina you ask? During the summer, both Black Balsam Knob and Sam's Knob are extremely popular destinations for backpackers and day hikers alike!

Hiking to Sam's Knob was a first for Jess and I and it was a blast as we were the only campers within a 1/4 mile of anyone else (it is nice to have a bit of quiet time), the weather held out and didn't rain at all but was cloudy most of the evening through the next morning.
