[Question] "Can a parent bring their daughter over 21 while having a
Green Card?"
Yes. If your daughter is single and remains single while the
parent has a Green Card, they can apply for them.
But it's going to take a couple of years. I can't remember exactly how
much it is right now, but it's going to take at least 4
or 5 years or more.
So be prepared for that.
But it's possible for a Green Card holder to bring their adult child here.
It's better to actually file for the child when they had
the Green Card as opposed to when they have Citizenship, because
Citizenship takes a little bit longer. But I've had people
make that mistake before. They thought they had to wait till they
become a Citizen to apply for their child.
That's not the case.
The only difference is, a US Citizen can apply for their child
who's married, but a Green Card holder can't. So a Green Card who
has a child that's married,
they can't apply for them. Or if they have started a case and
is pending and the child ends up getting married while it's
pending, that voids out the case. It cancels out the case.
You got to be very careful of that.
I've seen that issue pop up a lot.
