Another field trip! This time to the Teruhisa Kitahara Tin Toy Museum in Yokohama, where I go in search of a very special toy. It's a tin Jeep, made by Japanese craftspeople in the months after World War II. It's the same one whose story anchors the first chapter of Pure Invention, and for good reason: Japan's rise as an economic superpower began right here, with a humble toy made of scavenged tin.
