I'm reading Crowley's Book of Thoth and finding it uninspiring. What I really need is recommendations of smart Crowley books that help to explain the background and the philosophy. They don't need to be fanbooks critical books will do too.

I appreciate that he was obviously a colourful figure, but I am skeptical about his take on tarot. I once voiced my skepticism on YouTube and got told off so please fly to my rescue here!
