Can cataracts really cause blindness? What is the cure? White cataract surgery. Shannon Wong MD

Shannon Wong, MD

As we age, the clear lenses that we are born with gradually opacify and become cloudy. Our patient has developed a very advanced cataract that has become totally white and opaque reducing her vision to legal blindness. She is only able to see light and dark and unable to discern details, recognize people or objects around her from her blind left eye.

Through routine cataract surgery we are able to remove her cataract and help her see clearly within 1015 minutes. Modern cataract surgery is very safe and painless.
