On 1 January 2024 the Royal Cardboard Fleet and the RM Fleet declared war on each other. At the start of the war The Royal Cardboard Fleet had the cruiser Hamsire and the battleship Lord Nelson available. Another battleship, the Hindustan was being build and nearually ready for action. The RM Fleet had two cruisers, the Salem and Chester available and the two battleships Kentucky and Illinois.

On 1 January 2024, the cruiser Salem was on a raiding mission and searching for enemy merchant ships. The Salem found and engaged the merchant ship Labor, that resulted in The Battle Of 29 January 2024
