Our train is located in the Holcim cement plant siding in SiggenthalWürenlingen and we‘re ready to depart. We take off direction north to Koblenz and pull even further to Rekingen where we will change the direction of travel again. The reason why we change in Rekingen is simply capacity and track availability. Our trip then takes us along the river Rhine on a route that is reserved for freight trains only, a quite nice stretch and unfortunately not to be seen by „normal“ passengers.

During our stop in Basel RB, we prepare the locomotive for its trip into Germany and later hand it over to our colleague in Weil am Rhein. The train will then continue further to Frechen in Germany, near Cologne, where the wagons will be filled with brown coal dust and sent back to Holcim again. The circle is complete and our job is done!
