The Beluga, commonly known as the "supercarrier," is an upgraded variant of the Airbus A300 designed for transportation operations. When it initially came out, it was dubbed "The Super Transporter." However, because the aircraft resembled a beluga whale, the engineers renamed it "Beluga."

These oneofakind cargo planes have carried a diverse range of cargo, including some genuinely extraordinary objects. The famous picture "La liberté guidant le peuple" by Eugène Delacroix, for example, was flown from Paris to Tokyo aboard the Beluga.  

The BelugaXL cargo plane has a capacity of 56 short tons (51 metric tons or 51,000 kg), which is roughly the weight of eight fullygrown elephants.
