Caring for the carers: Translating wellness support for healthcare workers from research to practice

Follow
The Trauma & Recovery Research Unit

The COVID19 pandemic has resulted in unprecedented and often devastating new circumstances for health care providers (HCPs), leading to an increased need for mental health prevention and early interventions efforts to support this critical workforce.

This virtual symposium discusses a collaboration between Homewood Health Centre, McMaster University, and Homewood Research Institute that has facilitated the development and implementation of evidencebased programs and customised clinical practices to support the mental health and wellbeing of HCPs.

This onehour event features:

* Moderation by Dr. Margaret McKinnon, principal investigator of McMaster's Healthcare Salute project

* A research presentation about the collaboration and ensuing clinical recommendations by Dr. Kim Ritchie of the Trauma & Recovery Research Unit at McMaster University

* A fireside chat featuring Dr. Sandra Primiano, Dr. Tara Riddell, and Dr. Hygge Schielke from Homewood Health Centre on their experience creating and implementing mental health programming for health care providers, as well as their insights on the way forward

An audience Q&A session follows the fireside chat.

This event will be of interest to clinicians and mental health providers who work with HCPs, HCPs and their supporters (e.g., friends, family), organizational leadership, and health care organizations.

Proudly sponsored by Homewood Health Centre, McMaster University, and Homewood Research Institute.
