Ophthalmology is a highly specialized field of medicine, so much so that most other physicians have very little knowledge of cataract surgery, the most common surgical procedure performed worldwide. Patients have even less knowledge of our complex little world so it is important that we help them set reasonable expectations for cataract surgery.
