The Cathedral of Lamego, built after successive stages, is one of the most emblematic historical monuments in the Douro region. It was founded in 1129. It is a Romanesque cathedral that during it´s long construction time received Gothic additions, others already Manueline. It maintains the original Romanesque square tower. The cloister was built in the 16th century, but the rest of the architecture reflects the modifications made in the 16th and 18th centuries.
