The story of Catherine de Medici during her early years growing up. Becoming an orphan just weeks after being born, her future and what was to become of her became uncertain as she dealt with the political issues of her family.
At the age of 14, she married the Duke of Orleans after her uncle, Pope Clement VII arranged for their betrothal. The marriage of the two teenagers was extravagant and the pope spared no expense to impress the King of France and his court.
