From Cathy Young's 1973 GRT Album "Travel Stained". Recorded in October, 1972 by the great George Semkiw at RCA Studios in downtown Toronto. The album was reissued in 2009 by Big Pink Music in Korea (Big Pink 14).

The backup instruments & vocals on this track will give you an idea of how good all the R&B musicians & singers were in Toronto back then.....

Cathy won a Juno award the following year for Most Promising Female Vocalist

'Travel Stained' was produced by the late Shel Safran, who also produced 'Journey to the Center of Your Mind' for Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes. He also worked with Bob Shad from Mainstream Records, producing Big Brother & the Holding Company's demo for the label. The group featured a singer who would later prove to be an icon herself Janis Joplin.

Shel brought Bob Shad to Toronto following up on an article written by Ritchie Yorke, to see Cathy Young perform at the Rock Pile, and was responsible for Cathy's signing to Mainstream Records, making Cathy one of the first Canadian musicians to have a world release in 1969. Subsequently, the album 'A Spoonful of Cathy Young' was selected as Billboard Magazine's 'Pick of the Week' in the United States.

Shel featured the most Canadian musicians to appear on a solo artist's album in Canadian history 35 musicians on Cathy Young's 'Travel Stained' album. 'Eagle' was also the first music video that was ever recorded in Toronto, backed by Mike McDonald and Fingerwood. It was produced at Advertel in downtown Toronto, and Shel and Cathy took it to Los Angeles in January, 1973. When they went to screen it, it turned out the major label in L.A. had no "video equipment" to view it with!
