Cedar Beach is a public beach on Jones Beach Island, a barrier island in the Town of Babylon, in Suffolk County, New York. There are no residents.

Access to the beach is via the Ocean Parkway. Parking is available during the week for residents with parking permits. You may also pay the daily $20 fee ($30 on weekends).

Cedar beach features a marina, many children's parks, a trailer park, a fish museum, camps in the summer, children's activities, various entertainment, an annual summer fair, a volleyball league, shuttle service down to the ocean, and a snack shop.

Jones Beach Island

Jones Beach Island is one of the outer barrier islands off the southern coast of Long Island in the U.S. state of New York.

Jones Beach Island was once connected to Fire Island which was a single island stretching 60 miles from Jones Beach to South Hampton. The Fire Island Inlet naturally formed in 1863, and was later expanded through manpower, once over 9 miles wide before shrinking to its current width. The Fire Island Lighthouse was built immediately to the right of the inlet, but with the shifting sands the lighthouse is a now good six miles, an excellent day’s hike, from the inlet.

Jones Beach Island is named for Major Thomas Jones from Ireland who first came to Long Island in 1692, where he proceeded to build the island's first brick house near Massapequa. Jones built a whaling station on Jones Island near the present site of Jones Beach State Park in 1700.

Jones Beach Island is sometimes referred to as Oak Beach Island and is the former home of the infamous Oak Beach Inn OBI

Babylon NY

The Town of Babylon is one of ten towns in Suffolk County, New York, United States. Its population was 214,191 as of the 2010 census. Parts of Jones Beach Island, Captree Island and Fire Island are in the southernmost part of the town. It borders Nassau County to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. At its westernmost point, it is about 20 miles (32 km) from New York City at the Queens border, and about 30 miles (48 km) from Manhattan. The village of Babylon is also within the town.
