In 1995, Ecuador and Peru went to war for the third time in the 20th century. Area of operations was located in scarcely populated jungle where both sides had military outposts. Both countries involved their respective air forces and this would eventually lead to airtoair combat.
Peruvian Air Force (FAP) was nominally stronger, operating fourth generation Mirage 2000. Ecuadorian Air Force relied on older Mirage F1 and IAI Kfir.
