Detailed lecture on basic biomechanics concepts of gravity, gravitional force , center of mass,line of gravity. Gravity is the most consistent force on human body and its the pull of body to earth. The gravitional force is a natural force and it acts on all objects on earth. The hyothetical point in which whole mass of body is assumed to be concentrated is known as the Center of Mass or Center of gravity of body. Its an assumption or hyothetical point and every object has a COM OR COG.
Symmetrial, Asymetrical and Hollow objects has different center of mass.The point of application of gravitional
Force is also the COM/ COG. The line of gravity is lime of pull of gravitional force or is tne gravitionap force vector. It acts downwards from point of application.
The center of mass of human body is located approximately anterior to S2 vertebrae , but location can vary acccording to weight of indivudual and weight distribution. It can move up in forward lean and even move out of the body in leaning.
The center of mass of infants, 6 months old, 2 yr and 5 yr as well as adults are also discussed.
