In the Indian Constitution, this division of power between the Centre and State is provided under Part XI and Part XII. This division of power is divided into 3 heads:
Legislative Relation between Union and State Article 245255
Administrative Relation between the union and State Article 256263
Financial Relations between Union and State 264293

In this video, we will discuss the first part of the CentreState Relations i.e., Legislative Relations from Article 245255 of the Indian Constitution. Legislative Relations is further classified into 2 aspects:
1. Territorial Jurisdiction which is dealt with mainly under Article 245. The article describes the Law making the power of the Parliament and of the State Legislature. It also speaks about the extraTerritorial Jurisdiction of the laws made by the Parliament.

2. Subject Matter Jurisdiction In this, we will see the 7th Schedule of the Constitution. The 7th schedule has divided the powers of the Centre and the State into 3 lists:
Union List or List I of the Constitution
State List or List II of the Constitution
Concurrent List or List III of the Constitution
