It's our first longdistance trip aboard Amtrak, and we're taking Southwest Chief 3 from Chicago all the way across the Great Plains and the Mojave Desert to Los Angeles, on the Pacific Coast. Our ticket was a 50 dollar promotional fare, and we'll be showing you what it is like to spend two nights aboard Amtrak coach. Brought to you in 3 parts over the next few weeks, we hope that this trip report will help you get a sense of what life is like aboard the Chief, and inspire you to go out on an adventure yourself!
