A US Congressional delegation, which included former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, met Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala. The visit has riled up China, which lays claim to Tibet and sees the Dalai Lama as a 'dangerous separatist'. But even before the visit, the US Congress passed the Resolve Tibet Act, calling for a peaceful resolution of the dispute over the status of Tibet. US President Joe Biden has to sign the bill to make it an Act. Speaking to CNNNews18, Tenzin Lekshay, the spokesperson for the Central Tibetan Administration, praised the bill as groundbreaking.
Lekshay said Tibet's longstanding demand has been to seek autonomy, not independence. He also called on China to 'introspect on the mess they have made'.
