تدور الحلقة حول فترة القائد الشيوعي ماو تسي تونغ للصين (19491976) والتي تضمنت قفزة إقتصادية عملاقة تبعها أكبر مجاعة في تاريخ البشرية، المجاعة الصينية التي قتلت 55 مليون صيني، ثم الثورة الثقافية التي قام بها ماوتسي تونج من داخل الحزب الشيوعي للقضاء على مُعارضيه وقتلت مليون إنسان، وكيف شكلت تلك الأحداث الصين التي نعرفها حاليًا، سياسيًا وإقتصاديًا وإجتماعيًا؟
