Before I begin to discuss today’s topic, I want you to translate a sentence which is “What do you think of this film?” How do you say this sentence in Chinese? The correct answer is “你觉得这个电影怎么样?” You cannot say “你想这个电影怎么样?” Do you know why? After watching this video, you will know the reason.

Now we are going to see what’s the difference between “想” and “觉得”.
“想” has three meanings, one of the meanings is “miss”. Another meaning is “think over” and the last meaning is “want”.
“觉得” in oral Chinese has only one meaning, that is How do you like ......?” or you can say in “What do you think of ......?” How can you answer? Usually, you can use the same word “觉得” to answer it, “我觉得......”.
