This session is all about understanding the conditions to choose between reactions to ensure that no matter how it’s presented, you can easily figure out if you’re looking at substitution or elimination by learning to identify
how to evaluate the alkyl halide at the alpha and beta carbons
nucleophiles and bases as strong or weak attackers
polar protic and polar aprotic solvents
leaving group ability
how heat plays a role in the reaction intermediate and product stability
And of course we’ll work on lots of practice along the way which you can continue ON YOUR OWN with the Substitution Elimination Reaction Practice Worksheet
