The cross of Jesus solidifies the victory of God over Satan, evil & death.

God loves & God gives

By this the love of God is revealed in us: that God has sent his one and only Son into the world so that we may live through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.  1 John 4:910

“I give you a new commandment—to love  one another. Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another”. John 13:34

This is why the Father loves me—because I lay down my life, so that I may take it back again. No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down of my own free will.  John 10:1718A


What then shall we say to all this? If God is for us, who is against us? God, after all, did not spare his own son; he gave him up for us all!  Romans 8:3132B

God rescues

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what should not be done. They are filled with every kind of unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, malice. They are rife with envy, murder, strife, deceit, hostility. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, contrivers of all sorts of evil, disobedient to parents, senseless, covenantbreakers, heartless, ruthless.  Romans 1:2831


God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us,  2nd Corinthians 5:21A

He has destroyed what was against us, a certificate of indebtedness expressed in decrees opposed to us. He has taken it away by nailing it to the cross. Disarming the rulers and authorities, he has made a public disgrace of them, triumphing over them by the cross.  Colossians 2:1415


Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, he likewise shared in their humanity,  so that through death he could destroy the one who holds the power of death (that is, the devil), and set free those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death.  Hebrews 2:1415


The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. For this purpose  the Son of God was revealed: to destroy the works of the devil.  1 John 3:8
