Solstice & Equinox

The difference between the equinox and the solstice is that a solstice is the point during the Earth's orbit around the sun at which the sun is at its greatest distance from the equator, while during an equinox, it's at the closest distance from the equator.

In Northern hemisphere,
Summer solstice occurs around June 21,
Autumn equinox occurs around Sept 22,
Winter solstice occurs around Dec 22, and
Spring equinox occurs around March 20.

In Southern hemisphere,
Summer solstice occurs around Dec 22, Autumn equinox occurs around March 20, Winter solstice occurs around June 21, and
Spring equinox occurs around sept 22.
