The clavicle is a curvy bone located at the base of the neck. It serves as the connection between the axial skeleton and the pectoral girdle and is involved in everyday functional movement. The clavicle extends from the sternum to the acromion, and is therefore involved in two articulations:
sternoclavicular joint
acromioclavicular joint
Some of the landmarks of this bones are the locations where ligaments attach to the clavicle. They're found on the inferior surface of the bone and include the conoid tubercle, the trapezoid line and the impression for the costoclavicular ligament. The names of these prominences echo the name of the ligaments that attach to them.
