Cleavage of Carbon-Carbon Bonds With Periodic Acid

Follow
Professor Dave Explains

Just as important as learning reactions that generate carboncarbon bonds, we need ways to cleave carboncarbon bonds as well. This is useful for splitting a molecule up into fragments, or transforming a cyclic molecule into a linear molecule. Periodic acid is an interesting oxidizing agent that allows us to do this, so let's see how it works!
