Climbing Sherpa Peak via West Ridge

We climbed Sherpa Peak on 8/23/2023 after camping by Ingalls Creek because we didn't know if there was water higher up. Second day ended up being longer than expected, the approach was never ending rocks, scree and boulders.

The climb itself was pretty easy, but the route finding is not straightforward. A lot of the usual places don't have good route descriptions. We mostly followed https://www.mountaineers.org/activiti....

Soloed the first two pitches, then started soloing the third but decided half way through to rope up but I was part way up and Glen was lower down, so had to string together a bunch of slings to pull the rope up to me. The next part was awkward with having to climb sideways, down, then back up and around. Nothing too hard, but unclear where to go until I got to a big block by a sandy ledge.

There's probably several different ways to go that would work both through this section and the next.

After the sandy ledge, we unroped and hiked around until we found the crux pitch.

Crux was not bad, difficulty is in getting up without good feet, but protects well. Rest of the route was straightforward and the summit has incredible exposure and great views all around, especially back towards Stuart.

On the way back, we downclimbed the traversing sections and rappelled the steep stuff.
