The Imperial Japanese Navy won quite a few battles — and for a reason. They employed unique engineering solutions — take the fabled Long Lance torpedo, for instance — and carefully and deliberately adopted other countries’ technologies, making good use of ships built under license or purchased from abroad. All in all, it’s a Navy worthy of respect… but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
