Hey CNC Woodworkers! This is a continuation of my last video where I discussed my custom screen set for Mach 4. Check out that video and download it (free):    • CNC Build Ep 7: Custom Mach 4 ATC Too...   In this video, I'm going to cover how I setup the tool heights for my automatic tool changer / ATC spindle. This works for the HITECO QD1F, CNC Depot S30 / S30C spindle, or really any other ATC spindle that you might be using. It works in Mach 4 with Avid CNC, but the screen set is generic enough that it should work fine with any CNC machine running Mach 4.

Previously, I used to use a piece of paper as my "gauge block", and that did work, but isn't as precise. To use a piece of paper, you jog the machine down until you feel resistance when moving the paper under the bit. You can then hit the Tool Offset button after setting the offset height to be the paper thickness. You could also use a metal "feeler" gauge but at the risk of dulling your bit.
