Indigenous microorganisms (IMO’s) can be collected from the local environment and used to inoculate compost & soil, or used as a liquid foliar spray. It's a simple, inexpensive way to make microbial inoculants that are adapted to our local environment!

Materials:
Box (with holes)
Cheesecloth
Cooked rice
Sugar

Step 1: Fill box with cooked rice. Cover with cheesecloth.
Step 2: Bury the box in a shallow hole. Leave for 1 week.
Step 3: Mix inoculated rice with sugar at a 1:1 ratio.
Step 4: Cover with cheesecloth and leave in a cool dark place for 1 week.

USING LIQUID IMO
Strain the sugarrice mixture with a cheesecloth to get liquid IMO.
We use these ratios:

...for foliar spray:
1:250 (IMO/Water)

...for soil drench:
1:500 (IMO/Water)
