Dr. Surya Prakash Upadhyay is an associate professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) who specializes in sociology of religion, urban sociology, and postreform India. He received his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 2011 and is from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
