Federal and state judges in Colorado are offering practical civics lessons to help adults better understand the rule of law and how courts function.
In the Our Courts Colorado initiative, federal and state judges have joined forces to offer ondemand, onetime classes in English and Spanish on 10 practical topics. The classes cover needtoknow information about the rule of law, separation of powers, judicial impartiality, and jury service, as well as the basics of court fundamentals and proceedings.
Judges put a human face on the judiciary as they address citizens’ questions in a variety of venues and interactive formats. In addition to Our Courts Colorado in the Tenth Circuit, programs are offered in the Second, Third, and Ninth Circuits, with more being developed across the nation.
