Colored Globe (after the Sandpaper Globe)
Material:
The globe has a raised, painted surface representing continents and a smooth blue surface representing oceans
The wooden base holds the globe at a 23° angle, the same as the earth’s axis, in relation to the sun

Presentation:
Invite the child
Introduce the activity
Have the child bring the colored globe and you bring the sandpaper globe
Put them on the table next to each other and sit down
Say to the child: do you remember this? (point to the sand paper globe) and ask him to feel the sandpaper globe, tell him: the colored one is the same
Isolate a piece of land on the sandpaper globe, ask: can you find it in the colored one.
Put the sand paper globe aside on the top right corner
Point to the lands and tell the child that they are continents
Point to the blue area and tell him that is the ocean
Ask the child to point to several continents (one at the time)
Ask the child to point at the ocean
Leave the child to explore the globe
Have the child to pt the globes back after he finish exploring
Note:
Depending on the child, the puzzle map of the world can be presented immediately
