Follow along, as accomplished outdoor painters explain their techniques, tricks and the philosophy of their artform for "Common Ground" viewers. The annual Jaques Plein Air Event is essentially an outdoor painting competition centered in the picturesque Mississippi river city of Aitkin, Minn.

The in depth coverage provided by "Common Ground" spans two full episodes of the show. In this first episode the painters are restricted to working within the Aitkin city limits. Shot in July 2013 the warm glow of a summer's day in small town Minnesota suffuses the piece as viewers get a glimpse of painters interacting with other city inhabitants.
