Do you know how a tire is made? We went to a factory in Santo André, São Paulo, where more than 20,000 are produced a day to find out. And if you think that only rubber is used in the process, you are sorely mistaken. Shall we see?

The design of a tire can start up to three years before launch, as it is specially made for each type of car. The main raw material is, yes, rubber, but a mixture of natural rubber, derived from latex, and synthetic rubber, derived from petroleum, is made.

The color of the tire comes from an additive called carbon black, which is also derived from petroleum and gives the rubber more resistance. This "ingredient" is mixed in a giant blender with silica, sulfur, rubbers and other things to form a kind of blanket.
