Once you get the admission letter from a German University, then with all the excitement, here comes the paperwork. Which starts with the German Student Visa. And the German Embassy / Consulate will ask you for a blocked account confirmation to prove you have sufficient funds. This blocked account is called Sperrkonto in the German Language.

• It is a specific type of account where you block approx. €11, 208 in a German Bank, to prove you have sufficient finances to fund yourselves during your stay.
• The account is completely yours and it is usually blocked for a year.
