Compressible flow [Fluid Mechanics #18]

In today's video we introduce the complicated and vast world of compressible flows. Until now in this series, we have assumed density was constant. Now, we allow density to change, due to the flow, and lots of interesting things happen.

We will go over what compressible flow is physically, how to tell if flow is compressible via the Mach number and comparing Kinetic and Internal fluid energy, how we analyze compressible flows through new conservation equations and a separate set of Thermodynamics equations, and salient features of compressible flows like Shock waves. In practice, compressible flows are critical in aerodynamics and influence vehicle design, material choice, and body forces.
