Overview 0:03
Vertical vs horizontal ellipse 1:50
Find the foci of the ellipse 16x^2+9y^2=144 and sketch the graph. Identify the major and minor axes 6:15
Find an equation for the ellipse with its foci at (0, 2), (0, 2). The length of the minor axis is 6. 10:49
Find an equation for the ellipse with foci on the xaxis, length of major axis is 10, and the ellipse passes through the point (√5, 2). 14:05
You try: Find an equation for the ellipse with the endpoints of the major axis at (10,0), (10,0) with the distance between the foci being 6. 18:47

The next conic section is the ellipse. The ellipse consists of a major axis, a minor axis, two foci (plural for focus) as well as four vertices. The geometric definition of an ellipse says that the sum of the two distances to the focal points is a constant. This video goes over a few very common problems you will likely run into during your precalculus class.
